I took the oxygen sensor on my yamaha engine and sprayed with Gumout carboreutor clean to clean the oil and carbon on it. Did that ruin it?

Re: did I ruin my oxygen sensor?

I doubt that you ruined it by cleaning it, as long as you let it dry completely before installing it.

tgodiver

After looking through the Manual, I think I need to retract that statement, as it states that the use of ANY cleaning solvents WILL damage it. The only solution is to replace it, although I have cleaned then without problems in my vehicles before. Just so I'm clear on that. Don't want to send you in the wrong direction. Sorry,

I don't know about marine O2 sensor, but on cars I know that if you use any cleaner on it, it will be ruined, especially if there is silicone in the product that you are using.

Let us know what happen with it !

This is only MO

Mario ;)

I am not sure about marine O2 sensors but in the automotive industry the sensors are heated and if you use a cleaner on them and then apply power to them they will be toast, the heated sensors have three leads going to them.
