Re: DF50HP suzuki problems
Why are you closing the vent on the tank? I do not think any of these newer motors used a pressurized fuel system like some of the old ones. May need to check fuel pump pressure/vacuum
This is simple physics. In order to suck fuel out of the tank, air must replace it. Ever try to suck a soda bottle flat. Same principle. Once a vacuum builds up, the fuel pump cannot draw fuel. Then you disconnect the fuel line and run the engine dry which makes no sense either. These are fuel injected engines. There is no logical reason to run them dry. That leaves the pump(s) dry and air in what is supposed to be a "closed" and pressurized system. The vent on a portable should be closed only when the tank is being transported. When it's on the boat it must be open. When you refuel, connect the hose, open the vent, firm up the primer bulb, turn the key and go boating. When done -- turn the key off and walk away.
