Yep, you got a lot of damage there, son. I would approach your insurance company with an open mind. It really all depends on the adjuster, and if you **** him off, you will be in a fight. If he has sympathy for you and you are pleasant with him, he will probably work FOR you as much as for the insurance company. With your car being the car it is, and with low miles, HE may insist on new parts and doing it the right way ... like he would want his car fixed.

Don't sprout an attitude until AFTER you get his verdict. Then you can react accordingly. But don't automatically assume he is the enemy, or that is just what you will have.

Whoever said a bent frame means a vehicle should have been totalled doesn't know anything about body repair. Bent frames are repaired everyday and successfully. Zopper if your vehicle wears tire unevenly, the shop you chose did a faulty repair. Not your insurance company's fault, the shop's fault.

I said it and yes I do know you can straighten frames. But more times than not, an insurance company will just pay the claim and be done with it...

Have you ever worked in the insurance industry or as an auto appraiser? Well, as someone with 10+ years experience I can tell you most certainly that your statement above is incorrect. I have paid, and I have seen FAR more claims paid to repair "frame" damage than I have totalled. And most of the cars I have paid to total out, have more to do with sheetmetal and air bad damage than frame damage. Please stop giving bad advice.

Bubba's vehicle shouldn't have frame damage, of course. Not at the speed he says he was going.

Sorry Bubba. Good luck with the claim and repair. Be glad nobody is picking venison tartare out of their teeth as sometimes tragically occurs.

Ever since my first deer strike (it hit me actually) I will not drive anything but my daily driver this time of year.

When I take my boat to the launch, I live less than 1 mile from the lake shore (lake rd.) and 4 miles down lake road to the launch. because Lake Rd. is littered with deer I instead go 2 miles the other direction to take a different rout, turning a 5 mile direct rout into a 9 mile detour. To me it is so worth it. Could you imagine if that deer jumped in front of you while you were towing your rig!!

I'm not giving out any advice, just opinions. Since the post that I originally commented on has nothing to do with the OP, how about we drop it...........

Bubba

Think of this as an omen. When you get elected, you can make sure the grass gets cut.
You are foreordained to run and win.

Start your speech out something like..

"If you choose me to represent you I promise to make Deer Season year round!!"

You can't lose!

Shoulders were all mowed here and deer still manage to hit cars. The sad ones are drivers that over-correct and roll their rig....or worse  Good luck with the repairs.

So I'm thinking a 96-02 Camaro SS? I know what you mean about the origional part a quality shop should be able to make it as good as new.

On a GOOD NOTE: Taked with the adjuster and he is coming tomorrow to look it over. The "positive" is that he sounded like a younger guy that likes cars because when we talked he looked up the VIN and said, "Oh man, that is a rare beast from SLP. I bet your sick over it". At least I have someone that understands this is not a run of the mill car. Second positive, they already said it would be called a no fault accident. Third positive (I think) is that they have had to pay out so many claims this year they are threatening to sue the state for not maintaining the roadways by not mowing. Kind of late for me but maybe it will save someone else next year.

Glad to hear it :)

When I was learning to drive back about 1959, the one thing my Dad was most adamant about, and he was adamant about a lot of things, was, "Never swerve to avoid an animal! Drive through it!" I never forgot that and it has served me well on a few occasions.

It really got put to the test about 20 years ago when I was meeting a car in the dark on a narrow county road. As the car got close enough for his lights to be out of my eyes, there was a skunk square in the middle of my lane. I said something like argh but kept straight, then went looking for the closest car wash. Nasty.

The reason he was so adamant was that in the spring of 1958, a very successful and extremely popular basketball coach at the University of Iowa was killed when he swerved to avoid a couple of guinea hens, lost control of his car and went head-on into an oncoming semi. As Dad would say repeatedly, "#%@^&% guinea hens!!!" I don't think he liked guineas much.

Puh-Lease! Won't happen and if it did, they'll never win. Not the state's responsibilty to keep wild animals from entering the roadway. Never has been, never will be. Height of the grass makes no difference in the deer's ability to enter the roadway. Just makes motorists have to exercise due care. If the auto appraiser actually said that, he's not as smart as you think! ( He might know something about cars, but he don't know about suing a state, that's for sure!)

Yes I am certain they can repair it but at that point it is not "original" and in the car collector world that is everything.

Rest assured Most of the modern collecters have had some paintwork over the years, I remember one high end Mopar where the guy actually kept the front clip that was damaged when he was young as a Souvenir and that got buyers to bid it up even more for Originality!

I had a '98 Camaro and I loved that car! My GTO is my baby now and I actually cried as I had it a month and someone at my work parked close and opened a door into it (had a dent wizard person fix that) however I had the front clip repainted due to rock chips and such, it's a low mileage weekend toy and I'm a detailer so It is showroon clean but to me but life is short with no guarantee of what will be a collector, especially with the level of performance coming out of factories now, so when you get it back take it out and enjoy it!

Well, got the adjusters estimate. $8,300 !!! I think I am going to be sick. :(

Only thing that matters is your deductible. But true carbon fiber parts are expensive. Ever price a hood for a Viper?!
