I bought a Four Winns Fling 1994 14' Jet boat a few months ago and have had nothing but problems with it. I am now told one of the pistons is shot and we need to identify all the right parts for it. Can someone please help?!?

Thanks in advance, Paul

I was able to order an OMC service manual for my 1988 OMC Cobra from an OMC (Evinrude/Johnson) dealer, I'd start there first as the OE manuals are superior in my opinion, esp for major work.

NO ONE can tell you WHAT you need till it goes to the machine shop to see if boring will fix it. piston are avaialble in 20,30, and .040 aftermarket. BUT you havent fixed the problem of why it happened. and it will happen again unless you seek pro help.If you need a repair manual try a j/e bomb dealer.

Rod Knocking, you are exactly right. Just looked at the whole power pack in separate parts and it's 2 pistons and the block looks worn too. Looks like the rectifyer is gone too and we haven't finished checking. Will look at the turbojet tomorrow to see if there is a cause sitting in there. The oil/gas mix was fine and there don't appear to be any water passages blocked in the power pack, so the turbine is the only other place. What a bummer....

I bought a 1995 Four Winns Fling late last summer and it is a really nice little boat but it does not seem to have much power and it smokes like crazy on start up and at low idle. We finally got our hands on a manual for it from Bill Kelly at master tech. His email is mtech@mastertechmarine.com and his website is www.maxrules.com He was really helpful in our search for an engine manual. The part number for the manual is 503141, which is the original part number for this product from Evinrude/Johnson. We are about to dive into a tune up and overhaul this weekend to see if we can't get her back up to speed in the power department as well as have a little less smoke if possible. Any words of wisdom would be nice before we dive in head first. Thanks
