Desperate need of used parts

I just bought my first Nissan. I bought it used. It is a 1997 NS40D. It has a bad engine block due to saltwater use without ever flushing. The cooling jacket around the cylinders has eroded all the way through to the outside. The guy I bought it from tried to have some weld repair done but it was so eroded that the welder gave up and patched it with jb weld. I am deserate for another block. The motor runs fine so I should have about everything I need to build a good engine if only I had a block. I'll even take one seized up or whatever as long as it is rebuildable. I know for sure that any 40 or 50 hp block from 1992-1997 will work. Not sure about other years. Please email with any leads or if you know of Salvage yards that will ship that I can call forward their numbers. This is not an easy item to find used and I can't afford a new one. PLEASE HELP!!!!

You may be better off parting out what you have an purchasing a another engine. I am guessing you will have a hard time finding a good block that isn't off a complete motor, thus you would be buying a whole motor.

Depending on what parts are good and in what condition, you could probably do quite well in the parting out..

Buying a new block would not be cost effective even if available. Finding a used one could be a problem. Your only route in this other than my suggestion is to do as you suggested and find a rebuildable. Again that may be very tough.

You'll probably do best by getting another whole motor. If it's a similar model, you will then have the corroded unit as a parts donor for any maintenance. A new block (if available) will be pricey. A seized motor may have other unseen issues. I'd look for a known-good, running unit and go from there.

Thanks for the input guys. After searching high and low all over the US, I finally found a good used block 20miles away from home. I only had to give 100 dollars for it. I'm so excited now to get to work on this project!!!!
