Anyone have any suggestions on a depth finder thats easy to install for a newb??? I only need it for telling me how deep the water is for jug lining.

2nd question is how difficult is it to install a depth finder on a 17.5 ft bayliner capri?? does it require drilling?

They are not that difficult to install at all, generally if you have the aptitude to use a drill then you would be just fine.

It will generally require drilling a few holes to mount the unit on the dash, or any other location that you may want to put it. You may also have to drill a few holes in the transom for mounting the pickup/sending unit.

You can mount an external transducer on the transom, run the wire to the dash, and plug it into the gauge (or screen). Then, it's a simple 12v+ and 12v- power supply. If you are remotely compentent, figure 2 hours for everything.
