I am going to buy a new Lowe boat. I fish smaller lakes and the Ohio River. We mainly fish for catfish and panfish. We anchor fish a lot. Do you recommend a deep V or a mod V?

Deep V all the way.

I fish in my tinny about the same as you. We had a mod V for years, and then bought a Starcraft Deep V. The boat was only a foot longer and didn't weigh much more, but we sure enjoyed the better ride and handling of the Deep V.

My caveat is that I am assuming you are buying an aluminum fishing boat.

If I don't NEED a deep V for rough water, I would much rather have a mod V for the extra stability at rest (walk around ability).

I agree for a runabout with an 8'6" beam, but for a little tinny with a 70" beam I don't feel the difference.

Looking at the Lowe web site, what they call "Mod V" look like they are built like jackboats. That settled it! The Lowe Deep V's are the best option.

(Obviously, just my opinion based on my likes and dislikes and experience)

I bought an 18 year old Crestliner 1750 Fish Hawk last year which has a 37* dead rise at the bow and 12 at the stern. Beam is 91" as I recall. Going to their www you can pull up the 2002 and read the specs. Lowe, Starcraft, and others make alum. hulls very similar. It is the best of both worlds.....great ride and lots of stability, plus lots of room to move around. Age has taken it's toll on me and bouncing around wave to wave isn't what it used to be.
