Hi,

I use a Delphi Voyager M24MF Deep Cycle 12volt Battery in my 25ft O'Day sailboat. When I turn everything on...running lights, cabin lights, VHF radio, & mast light...the knot meter does not work! If I leave the knot meter on & then turn off any of the others...the knot meter works. I'm confused because I hooked up everything the same as last year AND did not have this problem. Any help will be appreciated!!!

Thanks,
Karen

How dead is the battery ? do you have and electric meter to test its voltage as you turn things on ?

All the lights and stuff will work to the bitter end the Knot meter will probley stop working around 10 volts more or less

tommays

Thanks for the reply...I had the battery on charge all winter & since it read "full" just assumed that it was fully charged! My error huh...I don't have an electric meter but I'm sure I can borrow one. Thanks again! karen

How old is that battery. Remember that its current capacity that serves the devices. Voltage is only part of the equation. The battery may initially show 12.6 volts or higher but drops like a rock when you turn things on. That indicates a bad battery. You can also have it load tested at any auto store. If you weren't using a smart battery charger you probably boiled it to death.

I used an appropriate battery charger & kept it on maintenance (not always charging). The battery is 2 years old.
