Deep Creep Aerosol and the Shraeder Valve on the choke

I'm winterizing the ski boat today and I had a light bulb moment.

I had a pretty used up can of the OMC areosol engine cleaner with the shraeder valve adapter. I had a couple of cans of Deep Creep (Sea foam under pressure) that I use on the Mercury Sport Jet. The OMC stuff was almost gone, and rather than tossing the can like I have in the past and running to the Bombardier dealer for some new, I pried off the Shraeder adapter on the can, removed the ordinary spray vavle from the Deep Creep, and placed the Shraeder adapter on the Deep Creep. Worked like a hot knife on butter.

I was so proud of myself... and then I noticed right on the side of the Deep Creep something like... "Use it with a Shraeder Valve Adapter if your outboard requires one"

Oh well, I still feel good about my eureaka moment, and I thought I would share with those as dense as I can be at times.

warmly,

Where can you buy a Shraeder adapter?? I have asked at auto stores and they don't know what I am talking about.

Re: Deep Creep Aerosol and the Shraeder Valve on the choke

Evinrude and Johnson dealers supply aerosol cans of storage fogging oil and engine tune up with the adapters in place of the normal push vavle. They come with a flexible tube which has a screw-on adapter for the shraeder valve. To remove it when the can is empty, pry up on the point where the flexible tube attaches to the push botton valve on the can. Underneath is the normal aerosol stem. Pull the little push botton off a Deep Creep can and push on the valve adapter assembly.
