I'm looking on ebay as well as various vendors websites.

so far the promising listings turn out to be "not in stock" - every last d*** one of them.

1. How can I find out what is included with long block assembly 8m0101212 ? quoted prices range from 5300 to 5800 .
are there merc catalogs online that have full assebmlies, not just part breakdowns?
I'm asking because of conflicting stories :
one dealer says all 8m0101212 needs is exhaust and cooling & pulleys, and another says it needs all that AND manifold, ecm, wiring harness and ignition - in both cases
no pulleys cooling or fuel parts are included - how can I find the truth? 5800 is way too much for a long block just because it came from mercruiser.

2. Does anyone know of a dealer who would actually stock a complete, new 4.3 or is this impossible now? how about a new, complete mercruiser reman';d and warrantied 4.3 ?

3. If I really go nuts and stick a new 4.5 in, (12 to 16K!!!) will i need all new controls, or is there a 10 pin (old end) to 14 pin adapter (engine side)?

thanks again for all your wisdom. You are helping me keep my sanity here.

Is your old engine carbureted or Injected? + What year?

As you scroll through the following link, there's some engine details listed about what comes on each model/ part number....Notice the part number in the right hand corner are 8M0101211 and 8M0101212... http://www.crowleymarine.com/parts/1326533.cfm#1326532

Oh and yes merc does offer a old 10 pin to new 14 pin connector/adaptor. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...nector+Adapter+Harness+84-866337T01+&_sacat=0

$5200 for a GM longblock is about 2 times the cost GM charges

Oh well, just like many sites, they don't update their site very often. Could call some dealers and see who offers the best price. I bought my XR drive from a dealer in another state, sometimes it takes a lot of looking
