Deck replacement on stationary pontoon

The plywood deck on my 1986 J.C, pontoon is rotting. We never take her out, since she came with the house and the lower unit of the mercury had been jammed into the mud bank for 3 years and may not be repairable. We are canoe-to-the-beaver-lodge boaters.

But she is valuable as the part of our dock with a roof. She is permanently moored to our dock in fresh water near the end of a wooded cove where it turns into a stream, so I don't expect the bottom of the deck ever gets splashed. The lateral aluminum joists that hold up the deck have white tape on them.

You folks deserve waterfront property in heaven for all the great advice I have already read. You made me realize what questions I need to ask.

Do I need to buy Marine plywood to redeck?

Can it be 5-ply Home Depot ABX "Marine" plywood, or do I need to drive 2 hours to Gander Mountain and get 7-ply?

Can I use ACQ pressure treated?

Do I need to paint the plywood?

I thank you for your advice.

Aluminum and PT don't mix. A rubber strip in between will work for you if you want to use PT. ABX will work but will need to be sealed from the elements.

If you don't plan to use it again then there is no real reason to pay for PT plywood. You can put down a membrane on the aluminum and fasten 5/4 decking to it. It doesn't sound like it has any resale value anyway.
