I have a 22' fisher deck boat 4.3 mercruiser. It currently has a 13.75 21 pitch 3 blade alluminum prop on it that is pretty beat up. Two of the blades have a couple chunks out of it and all are somewhat wavy. It has a decent hole shot but max rpm at wot are 4200 trimmed with a load of people. Pretty close to the same with just me and my wife. What size recommendations would y'all have for a as prop. I don't know if I am losing rpms from having a damaged prop or I need to go down in pitch.

Re: Deck boat prop replacement

The full throttle operating range of your motor is 4400-4800 rpm. A 2 inch reduction in pitch(to a 19) will gain you 300-400 rpm; putting you up around 4500-4600.

That and the fact that the prop is new(not dinged up) will net you an improvement in performance you will appreciate. :)

The Solas Rubex 14-1/2 X 19 pitch might be a good choice. The only better choice for your boat would be the Quicksilver 15-1/2 X 18 pitch. It will turn almost the same rpm as the smaller diameter prop, but give you better load carrying ability.

It would be good to know your actual light load wot rpm and speed by gps.
A "Load of people" doesn't tell much.Rpm without speed also doesn't help much..
If you do run loaded a lot a 19" might be in order.
No doubt it will be peppier not sure about top speed.

Re: Deck boat prop replacement

With just me in the boat on a glass lake I have been able to get the boat to pump 4400 rpms with gps speed of 37mph. With about 600 lbs in the boat at wot it will hit 4150 -4200 rpms and 35 mph and didn't really drop off much more than that when I had a load of eight people in the boat. Would my boat benefit from one of the high five props?
