decarbing?

I read the engine de-carb in the FAQ. but of course still have questions. I bought the seafoam deep creep. In FAQ It says to spray into carb. How much of the can should I use? Should I just go thru whole can? Spray and let smoke and keep spraying? It also says to remove spark plugs and spray liberally into cylinders and let soak. Should I do this tonite before going out in the morning. It says to do that. I don't care if it smokes a lot when I hit the water in the morning. It'll still be dark.

I also have a question about the fuel addi. How much do u use to clean carbon that way. In FAQ it says 3/4 gallon gas, 3oz. oil and do you use a whole can of regular seafoam? Can I just add a whole can into tank now with 5 gallons or should I let tank run low and then do it, or will the deep creep spray do good enough and I can just use the fuel add as preventive.

Thanks alot for all the help. I don't know if I'm more excited to hunt ducks in the morning or decarbing after I'm done hunting.;)

Re: decarbing?

You don't say what size engine you have but if it's a bigger one, you can use the whole can of Deep Creep-tonight.

I just put about a half can of the stabilizer/cleaner in a six gallon tank.

Be aware that decarbing is hard on spark plugs.

Yes. sorry, it's a 25 hp evinrude, 1972. I did pick up 2 new plugs and put them in the tool box and plan on changing them after I'm done. How much do you need to spray thru the carb. to get everything clean?

Jimmy,

That's not really abig engine. I would spray as much as you can force through the carb without it stalling. Then give it one last good dose and stall it.

Then dump some down the spark plug holes and work it through manually.

Take a roll of paper towels with you, this can get quite messy.

As far as the fuel. About six ounce to five/six gallons.

jimmy has a 25hp 'rude.
I would spray the deep creep in the cylinders tonight and let it soak, prolly need at least half the can.

Re: decarbing?

decarbing done. Lots of blue smoke when I sprayed into carb. while it was running. With the straw tube on the sprayer I really couldn't get motor to stall out. Put some in the cylinder heads but didn't have time to wait. Ran it again all the blue smoke seems to be gone.

Bad news. When I installed new plugs a month ago I borrowed my brother-in-laws torque wrench and I don't think it worked right. Top spark plug threads stripped right out. Can't believe I've gotton away with it. I think about 1 thread is left and that's it. There goes another $75 to have it re-tapped.

Motor did run great again, sounded smoother after de-carbing.

It's also a good idea to coat the threads with anti-seize or oil before inserting them.
