Would it be a good time to decarb right before winter storage?
Planning on pulling the boat next Saturday for winter storage.
Was thinking of decarbing the night before, let it sit overnight and then give them (Twin '95 Johnson 175's) a good run before pulling the boat on Saturday.
Plan on checking the compression prior to fogging.
Thoughts????

That is the way I do mine every year for the last 40 years, and I never had a problem in the spring when it's time to start the motors up. I always, ALWAYS change the lower end gear lube before winter so if there is water in there, I will remove it before it freezes. (I learned the hard, EXPENSIVE way on when to do this step). I once waited until spring to change the gear lube. Never again. I remove my spark plugs and spray my fogging oil in each spark plug hole and put the plugs back in.

I use Seafoam religously all season long in my motors. I probably do not really need to decarb in the fall, you are correct. I do, however, still decarb because I just feel it is cheap insurance that the motors will start and run next season with no problems. I might be wasting time and money, but again, it does not cost too much to do.

Tony, I would advise you to make sure all that decarbon stuff is out of the motors. That strong of a solvent laying around all winter in the motors cannot be good.
