I had the boat winterized last year due to not having a manual and not having enough time to do it on my own. I've done research and asked questions since then, obtained all the needed greases, a fluid evacuator, proper filters, spark plugs etc. I jumped in the boat yesterday morning, put the engine and manifold plugs back in, re-connected the coil wire, put the battery back in, put on the muffs and fired her up.........SUCCESS! I ran her on muffs for about 10 minutes until the engine temp was right at 150-160, shut her down and changed the oil with my mityvac evacuator. AWESOME. That thing works really well and made the job pretty easy. I replaced the oil filter also. I didn't want to replace the plugs with the engine warm so I then removed the prop (a first for me) and greased the spline. Once again, pretty easy! My son and I took a break then I jumped upside down and backwards in the engine compartment and got the plugs changed. I had gapped them all last week so that was already done (I had greased/lubed the steering also). Once that was done she fired up again immediately. So, we headed to the lake and ran a half a tank of gas through her just running around the lake and locating different marinas that we didn't take the time to find last year. The oil pressure stayed great and the temperature stayed right at 150-160 when running. I periodically checked the engine compartment to make sure all was well and it was! So, I wanted to take a minute to say thank you ALL for such a great forum where us "newbies" can get sound advice on caring for our crafts! Your help is much appreciated!
