I was wondering what you all thought of de carbonizing or spray can tune ups! Are they worth it and how often should you use them, what are the good brands?

Heck Yes they are worth it. I put a can of SeaFoam "Engine tune" in my gas tank every third fillup and it works wonders cleaning my engine and stabilizing the gas at the same time...... I have seen it clean my spark plugs up in as little as 10 hours. I "Hate" snake oil salesman, but this stuff made me cross the line {once}. They also make a spray in formula called "DeepCreep". Quicksilver engine tune works good too, but the SeaFoam is cheeper. Another guy on this board gave me the idea to take a small portable tank(mine is a 3 gallon) with a disconnect, and mix up your favorite "Super Juice", and on a routine schedule, hook it up to the motor and run it out for about 15 minutes(or whatever). This has work excellent over the last several years for my fleet, and I won't go into the other interal combustion engines I use it on... Anyway, take care of that motor, and she will take care of you..... Clear back to 16....

Can I just say how lucky you are across the pond. I bought some Quicksilver Power Tune and Fogging oil price £17.50 or nearly $30!
I've tried searching for Seafoam over here, but no luck, do any of you know if its imported over here UK

Thanks
Mark

PS: First time out in my new (project) boat on Sunday, +2deg C with a nice westly 20kt wind, great fun! Typed this with my elbows!

According to the SeaFoam Safety data sheets, it is made of approximately
60% Naptha,
25% pale oil (light machine oil)
and 15% isopropyl alcohol.

So you can make your own!!!!
I don't know how you can get it into a spray can though.

This formula is very close to a product that is used to flush the oil crud out of auto engine blocks during an oil change. Perhaps you have a similar product on the island.

Glad you enjoyed your boat ride.

This is for the Brit posters:

As far as I can figure, Sea Foam is only available in the U.S.

I'm in Canada and it is not carried here.

I tried getting some back through O'hare, and as expected, it was taken away from me.

I called Sea Foam yesterday, and they told me that they are in negotiations currently and hope to have Sea Foam for sale in Canada by mid 2004. I wonder if they realize that all labeling has to be English and French.

Any way, any Corrie fans out there?

Tx.

Joe
