After you decarb the engine, it's best to run the Bombardier XD50 oil in the tank. That oil comes with a carbon-guard additive that continues the cleaning process as the engine runs.

You mean don't run the XD 100 use the XD 50 instead?

Comes down to cost. You can run the XD100 in your Ficht, but it is specifically designed by the factory for the new Etec engines. Etec computers can be adjusted to run this oil at 100:1 ratios with no problem. It's really expensive, but when run at 100:1, it's about the same cost as running the XD50. Running the XD100 expensive oil in a Ficht will only run at 50:1 ratio. At that ratio/consumption rate, it's really an expensive oil...The XD50 should work just fine in an Ficht.

Damn... just bought 2 gallons of XD100. I thought I could program the FICHT to run at 100:1 with the software. O-well... good to know thanks. Next time I won't waste my money.

If I remember right you can program the Ficht to run the XD100 oil. The trick was don't have it programed for the XD100 and then put in XD50.

I can't believe it's really 1/2 the oil usage as XD50!! I think I'd be happy setting it up 75:1

gents, XD50 does not mean its designed to run 1:50 - its only a brand name. the ficht oiling ratio is computer controlled and dependent on the load, but factually it runs much leaner than 1:50 , especially at low speeds. i made a season on one oil tank !
further its not fully correct to talk a "mixture ratio" on a ficht since the oil is never mixed with the fuel on this engine.

that said i made best results with xd50 on my 150 ficht , it ran smooth and no decarb was needed. XD100 is fully ok to use blut not needed since it was designed for etecs which can be programmed for an even lower oiling supply when this oil is used.

XD50 or XD 100 - your ficht will be very happy with it and will thank you for this oil with clean plugs, no carbon and smooth idle.
