I bought an electronic dash tach for my motor and I have the shop manual with wiring diagram that shows a gray wire designated for a tach. Is there anything I should be aware of before connecting it to that wire? Any hints or suggestions?
Thanks

What wires are leading from the tachometer, or if no wires, what are the tachometer terminals marked?

The connections are marked 12v, gnd, lamp and engine. It is an Aquameter Ensign digital tach by Rule. It has switch settings for the correct number of engine pulse signals on various engines. I assume the 3 cylinder engine puts out three pulses per revolution and that is where I would set the tach?

Six pulses if it is a 3 cylinder (this is the telflex web page that explains that http://www.tflx.com/PDF/99320.pdf

Inside your shift control box there are 3 wires. A positive, Negative and engine. There is "usually" a plug at the back of the box by the key switch to access the wires.

Bob
