Well today I lost my best fishing buddy, 5" Bagley Bang 0 lure with prizm image :(

Ive owned this lure for about 7 years now and has been my #1 go to lure since the day I caught my first fish on it. About a year ago I struck a rock with it and cracked it open in the tail but yet it still brought me the best of luck.

Today I went fishing with the youngins and after catching a fish on it, lost it forever :(

I come home and find out that its been discontinued and I cant even find one online for sale.

Gurrr.

Aww :( so sorry to hear about your loss. I know the feeling. Sounds like you need a funeral for closure. Keep looking though. you may find a replacement. :)

keep your eyes on ebay, one might comes up. I once lost a prized PJ Pop popper and couldn't find a replacement. Lurh Jensen still makes them but there was something about the one I had that make it different then the rest. I've bought a dozen more 1/4oz PJ Pops but none has the same action.

Re: Dark day for this bass hunter :-(

I spent hours internet shopping last night and found plenty of Bang o Lure's but no prizm image, except for 1 that is on Ebay and they seller calls it "vintage" (which you know what that means!

People on Ebay really love the word "vintage". This lure was on the shelf brand new less than 5 years ago and now all of a sudden its "vintage" and commands a $30.00 price tag (no bidders yet of course)

I would love to have another but this one is 4" not 5" and I just cant bring myself to pay $30.00 plus shipping for something I bought 7 years ago for $5.00.

Oh well, I will hit up a few bait shops and see what I can find.

I have fun with eBay when it comes to buying "vintage lures".

You don't happen to have a picture of this thing do you? If I ever ran across one at my local bait shops I would pick it up for you.

You beat me to it. I was going to say give us a picture and then you could have a few hundred eyes looking instead of two. Good luck.

sad part is I dont even know where it went. I was tossing on some lilly pads when my Sister hooked a Largemouth and was freaking out since she had never caught a fish before. I reeled in and set my rod down and when I went to grab it my frog was gone.

21 yeas old and had never been in a boat or been fishing. sad isnt it?

Re: Dark day for this bass hunter :-(

Thanks for the offer. I cant find an image on the net, but I do have a green bang o lure with prizm image and a black/silver prizm image popper. I could take a pic of both and you could figure out what it looked like.

I have checked Bass Pro in Charlotte, no go. I went on a trip out to the mid west and checked two Bass Pros in TN on the way back and No go. I also checked a few Gander Mtn's on the trip and still no go.

Ive checked every small private owned bait shops and no go.

I emailed the ebay guy an offer of $12.00 and he accepted. So that should be here in a day or so. Its not the exact same as its 4" not the 5" but its better than nothing.

The story with the one that I lost goes like this: I was on the lake with two kids. The wind was nasty and I was at the back of a point in the lake right before it dumps into a river so the current was high too. I was in about a foot of water and the trolling motor at full power was just keeping me still against the curent and wind. I was working the trolling motor and cast the lure off my sons spinner. The spinner was a small one and I am used to stopping the line with my finger, but because of the smaller reel I couldnt reach with my finger. When I cast it the wind took the lure for a ride like a kite! Ive never had that happen. It shot up in the air and before I could grab the spool with my other hand (realizing my finger wasnt long enough) it was WAY up a tree, more than 25 feet I would say.

I have a tree limb saw on a pole from my father. I plan on heading back to the lake, beaching the boat further in the lake and walking down to the edge of the river and getting my lure back!

Yea Im that attached to it :D

all is not lost!! I would have been up that tree in a second. I would have gone for a swim if I saw where my frog went, but it was just gone.

Well it was cold and windy. I had two kids in the boat to keep an eye on. I also didnt know this lure was dicontinued, figured it would be an easy replacement. However I am now planning a recon, search and rescue mission for this week :D

Re: Dark day for this bass hunter :-(

First pic

The top one is my go to lure, the one I saved from the tree today. I have a 4 inch one on its way by mail but the one pictured is 5 inch.

The middle one is new, found it a few years ago. Same lure with prizm image but I have had no luck with it.

The bottom one is one I found recently. Its a basic Bang-o-lure but has a prop on the tail. Bagley runs a wire through the balsa lure so the props cannot be removed. Ive had no luck with this one either.

Second pic

Shows damage to the black prizm image bang-o-lure that happened last year. It hit a rock on a cast and split the tail. Still works just fine.

If anyone finds a black/silver 5" Bang-O-lure with prizm image and no prop, let me know.

I saved the picture of the lure as "top-lure-wanted" and I'll keep me eye out for one.

For your ebay search, click "advance search" and include ebay stores. You just might get lucky.
