On a points motor, the points will burn with the key left on

WHAT will/ did happen to a boatmotor with the key left on for a long period of time

I left my key on for 2 days on my 1983 35 hp....granted it was plugged in to the onboard charger....but it started up and ran fine there after....


don't know the results of a motor with a VRO..and such...

I did likewise with my '85 140 VRO2 motor. Just recharge the battery and you'll be fine.

On a magneto ignition outboard with points, absolutely nothing will happen with the key on. The ignition does not get its power from the battery.

... plus your motor is over twenty years away in time from any points motors.
