I know this is going to sound like a strange question, but... How the heck do you guys keep bees from nesting in a closed bow boat? I had a few nests in there last week and killed them at night when they were sleeping. I just went out to do some work on the boat and there is a new big nest in there!! Of course, getting buzzed is not my idea of a good time. Is there something to put up under there to keep bees from nesting under there?

Help!

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Re: Dang Bees

I heard sticking an (unlit) citronella candle under there would deter them just from the smell alone.

Never tried it though.

You could spray some hornet spray under there too, and they would move to another spot real quick. Once they move out youre good as long as the boat doesnt sit idle in one spot.

I know this is a stupid question, but do they have to be the regular bounce scent or will any scent work?

A cover and the dryer sheets will work, the cover will do a lot to keep the bees/wasps out of the boat and also to make the dryer sheets more effective. The cover will seal most places they enter and also keep the fragrance from the sheets in the boat to help deter them more. You will want to vent the cover to keep mold and mildew down. Moth balls may also work.

...been using el cheapo un-scented dryer sheets for years now in our cubby cab. They have kept everything out except ants cleaning up from the grand-kids' soda drippings!!! (TERRO gets those guys)

I have had the same issue in the past. I have taken out 2 nests from the bow of my boat. How exactly do you use the dryer sheets? Do you just leave them on the floor of the bow or what? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Re: Dang Bees

In periods of time when the boat will not be in use, we simply scatter three or four sheets about the cabin.
This time of year the fully opened box just sits on one of the bunks with a fresh sheet exposed 'bout each time we go out (weekly/ten-dayish)
