Talk about thick! I write often on this board and feel confident when I write. I really enjoy the experience, I rather like learning a lot as well.
I have just found a major mistake with my own maintanence, I havn't greased my rollers on the trailer enough and had a couple of seized ones. This was (or so I believed) down to my health. You see I thought the extra effort needed to push the boat off was due to my health. Idiot!, I discovered yesterday the roller problem. I now have brand new rolers running on stainless steel shafts, the rollers sit on nylon bushes. There's a little marinised vasoline on the shafts. Surprise, surprise, I can now work the boat off the trailer on the flat with one hand. New problem, I've never been able to do that in the past! I'll have to watch that one. Talk about a new lease on life.
Ross

Thanks for sharing that with us Ross - life is a continual learning process... I would never have thought to check the rollers either - but will now. Sounds like you've got a new lease of life for launching your boat! :)

G'Day, Ross.

The previous owner of the trailer I have under the Outrage had the same gap in his maintenance. It will need new rollers, 16 at about $12 each, this Spring.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

Thank you gentlemen. I just remembered that I need to order a new keel roller for my trailer.

Have a great day....The ice is finally all gone off the lake and I'm going to get on it soon. :D

Bob

Just an update, went fishing today on the Waitemata - yes we did OK - the boat slid off the trailer easily. Thank God I use a rope to control this. It also whinched up again easily. I'm chuffed!
Ross

PS - when I read that there's ice in the USA it makes me a little envious to be there.

If you have boards along with rollers. Buy some spray silocone and give them a good coat just before you put your boat back on the trailer. When they are dry. This will make worlds of difference. Just remember to keep it tied until you are in the water. Or it will be on the ramp.
