well here is one back at ya. I live in Tulsa OK, and own a boat dock out on the Ft. Gibson, along with my Brother in law. Dad, being raised in FL, loves the water, but living in NM, doesnt have the time to go 300 miles to a decent lake.

Last summer him and mom come up and we all make plans to fish the whole week. First day out, i give dad the rod and reel he gave me for my 19th birthday to fish with. Now i dont think i need to explain to anyone the importance and the sentament value this Baitcaster has to me, it my favorate.

So we hit the hot spots on the lake, looking for sandies and some blacks, and day is casting away, looking like the pro he is. I go casting my open face when i hear "oh sh**", i look over and see dad looking at the water, and my favorate pole go into the water. Aparently dad's grip on the fishing pole was not as good as he thought and he didnt hit the casting button very god. I dont remember how i did it but i got my fishing hat, glasses, wallet, money, fish pliers, fishing lisense and car keys all out of my pockets, tooke my shoes off, and jumped in the water after my pole.

Needless to say Mom and my brother in law thought this was funny as hell..............but i still got my pole!!

its times like this that make fishing with your friends and family so worth it.

My daughter and I were out doing our early morning fishing run (pre breakfast and first light when everyone else was still sleeping) at the cottage. Needless to say she dropped my sons rig over that had the new reel he had saved up for. Too slow to retrieve it, we both felt really bad and our fishing session was a little quieter than usual as we were wondering how to explain this one !! When it was time to weigh anchor and head back for breakfast we actually caught his line !! a little careful drifting around and up it came. Saved a whole lot of explaining and replacing but we did tell him the truth of what happened when we got back.

Re: Dad's, remember when you use to laugh at your kids....

One year in Quebec on a little river called Batchlor....it's off the Waswanippi Lake, Mom, Dad, my better half and I were fishing out of an old MFG I once owned....18footer. Well Dad liked to set on the bow and fish. The rest of us had to stay in the stern.....you know....Dad has the roost.

Well....Mom and my wife had there brand new Zebco 33's and were having fun catching Wallies....we all were. Mom decided to fix a bite to eat for us and laid her pole on the gunrail just as Dad decided he wanted to come back and take a nap where we were all fishing. Can hear her words plane as day..."Pat! Watch my pole laying there"....he said "OK"......next thing ya' know...Mom's new pole is in the drink.

Thought she was going to blow a gasket.

Knowing the area and that the water wasn't real deep, I put on a heavy Dare-Devil spoon and started dragging the bottom. About 5 minutes and I snag her pole.....by the tip eye. Pulled it up, cleaned it up and it was like nothing ever happened.....exept Dad never came astern agin.
