My 74yo father shot a nice buck recently that chased some does too far this time. He has thousands of trailcam pics at this stand, but none of this buck that apparently chased some girls across the road and onto my uncles land.

Yes, I and the taxidermist aged it at 4yo. It was about 200lbs undressed.

......and grub1grub2 SO TRUE! I try and told dad not to stare at big bucks approaching, just glance at them now and then! and take deep, calming breaths. Dad was watching 2 does that had come from behind his right shoulder to almost infront, then stopped and appeared to be staring at him in a skirted ladderstand that's been in place for 4 years. The buck came from over his left shoulder, he heard it and thought it was just a squirrel, when he finally looked to his left he saw the buck ( what the does were looking at ) sneaking w his head down and hastily shot w a Winchester 30:06. "hastily" he had the butt of the stock on his bicep, not the shoulder and he suffered a terrible black and purple bruise on the front of his bicep compounded by some medicine he takes that makes him bruise easily. I have a pic of his arm and it looks very ugly. He hit the buck square in the shoulder and dropped it in it's tracks. He now is 14 for 14 after a hiatus of 30 years, retuning to hunting 4 yrs ago w the Winchester I "loaned" him.

There has been a hunting club on an old sold farm across the road from my uncles place for almost 30 yrs. I've google earthed it and there are 3 ponds and acres of fields that are now food plots. There are also alot of corn feeders in use probably half the year. Dad has a gravity one he stocks from Sept. to January and I heard a motorized on go off earlier this year near the back of my uncles property. Sadly development is rapidly consuming the whole area and I predict within 5 years my uncles place will be an island in a suburbian sea, he's not selling no matter the price offered. If the buck came from the hunting club i'm sure they'll miss him, they may have been letting him walk for another year or 2 to reach his full potential as a trophy and to keep spreading his impressive antler growing genes. There are good genes in the area, 15 miles away I found a shed antler whose base size indicated a yearling that sported 5 tines. I'll try to post a pick of it tonight.
