Cylinder Walls

What do you look for to try to determine if new rings or pistons need to be replaced on a powerhead? What do you look for on the cylinder walls to determine if any damage has<br />taken place?

pull all plugs out and inspect them for aluminum deposits and also do a compression test...good luck! and hope everything is alright
