Can someone tell me what rpm loss and running characteristic that I should experience when performing a cylinder power balance test on my 90hp 1989 3 cylinder Merc.
With the engine idling at 900 rpm,s in nuetral.
It is my understanding that when I disconnect and ground out spark plug leads one at a time, I should see an equal loss of power(rpm's) for each cylinder and that this observation is an indication that each cylinder is contributing an equal ammount of power.
Am I wrong? Will the loss of one cylinder affect rpm's and running condition more than the other/s?
Someone stated that the cross looping system on these engines is such, that a cylinder power balance test performed as described is not valid.
What is your take?
Still troubleshooting my engine power loss/rough runner at plane speed (3000 rpm's under load).
Thanks
Will
