Based on model# & Serial# given below, can anyone tell me whether this engine is a Crossflow or Looper design??

I've spent at least an hour searching for clues... and totally failed. (( Just trying to find the proper spark plugs for it -- it really shouldn't be this hard to figure out!!)) :-(

Model: J90TLEOR
Ser#: G 03842256

Thanks

Thank YOU very much racerone !

...now may I ask you how you determined that?

-- Because I kept stumbling over my attempts to do so... I guess I don't know where the reference info is located.

~ and it may very well be that today is one of those days (for me anyway)...
.....when it would be best to just blow it all off for the time being and simply go fishing. :)

Easiest way to tell if you are unsure is pull the spark plug and look in the cyl at the piston. A looper piston is flat on top a crossflow has a large deflector as part of it will not be flat.

You can go to http://shop.evinrude.com/ and click on "Parts" at the top of the page, then follow through to your motor for a parts list. Just a glance at the powerhead picture will tell which it is---IF you are experienced enough to know the difference. (It's a cross-flow)

Actually, easiest way requires no disassembly outside of removing the cover. For V-motors, if the motor has removable exhaust and intake port covers, it's a crossflow. If they're all cast into the block, it's a looper.
