CUTS OUT WHEN TRIMMING

MY 88 LARSON WITH A 4.3 WILL STUDDER OR ALMOST CUTOUT WHEN TRYING TO TRIM UP ON FULL THROTTLE????ALTERNATOR????

My '76 Merc 888 (Ford 302) has the same problem. Someone suggested checking the ground wire from the pump. HAvn't tried it yet, but have a feeling they may be right.
