My cut-off switches are gonzo. I have 79 style merc 260s (5.7L) with the shift plate that mounts on the back of the engine. They use the switch 39670A28 which are no longer available. The only option Merc gives is the new shift plate assembly 864363A1. I may be able to get my hands on some of the 87-19752A6s but am not sure they willl work on my shift plate..<br /><br />Does anybody know if there is any difference between the Merc 39670A28 cut-off switch used on many of the Merc packages and the 87-19752A6 which seems to have been mostly used on the 4.3L and 5.0L packages? Can the be interchanged?<br /><br />Also, has anybody tried the new shift plate/ cut-off switch assembly 864363A1 to replace the older shift plates that mount on the back of the engine?
