Just got me a Curado 201 bait-caster today. Man that thing is sweet. Did not realize how nice these new baitcasters are.Only have been out back in the yard casting it some. I cant wait to get out on the water with it tomorrow. now if I can just get through the day without a professional overrun.

Re: Curado reel

Hey Flathead-Congrats on the purchase.I don't have
one myself,but I've been readin' 'bout them.When I
get enough money I'd like to get several of them.
--I saw on another forum( ,did I just admit
to having gone to another site,  )
that these reels are the Japanese Scorpion reels
that have been painted over. Some dude,in attempt
to refinish his, found that after stripping his
down,he found the Scorpion stampings on the frame
& side covers.My advice-take good care of it-you
have a goodun' :D __Of course that is provided that what I read is true.Regardless it's still good.
P.S.-Sorry for the late reply.Just happened to see
this tonight. If you want & if permissible I'll tell
you the name of the site and you can go check it
out. They think highly of them Curados. :D

I hope this works:
http://www.wmi.org/sql_messages_htm...&ini=d:\asp_ini\other_topics_3way.ini&no_nav=
In search(the 1 on far right for search by name)
type in "prengler",and check out the posts where this guy refinished his Curados.Pretty neat.
If I'm straight on this-they're saying the
200 Curados' and the 1500 Scorpions are the same,
but the 100's are not the same as the 1000's.
Like I said before, the Curado is still probably
the best buy for the money.
If,however,you can't afford the Shimano,the next
choice, among most, including some on this site is
Ambassadors.{Some say Amb. or nuthin'}
If you have trouble findin' yer way 'roun that
site<it ain't as good as this'un :D >post back
here an' I'll try to help.
Have a nice day :)

Re: Curado reel

LOL ratltrap I put the curado on a six foot quarrow rod ( the are the best rods ever in my opinion) I have ten pound McCoy mean green line on it. I have fished with it and it works great. did not get a huge bass with it yet but I will :D I fished crankbaits and rubber worms with it so far and have caught some 2 and 3 pound bass.

Re: Curado reel

I just picked up a new Curado too. Any advice or tips on how to avoid birdsnests when casting? Took it for the first time yesterday, and spent the whole time untangling line..

Re: Curado reel

Practice practice practice. They have the magnets under the side cover and the tension knob on the side. You will have to experiment with it till you get it right. Put on a sinker and then turn the knob just until the sinker will drop down. Don't try to cast a mile at first just a little flipping and light cast till you get the hang of it. Once you get the hang of how much thumb pressure you will have it licked
