Hey guys,

I have a 50' gibson houseboat with twin crusader 454's. I recently pulled the port engine carb off to get rebuilt. I went to put the carb back on yesterday (along with new fuel/water seperator) and went to start the engine and nothing? All I did was pull the carb off and put it back on a few days later. I checked the fuel pump circuit breaker on top of the engine and it seems ok, i pulled the line off coming from the tank to the fuel/water filter and it was bone dry. It has a little black in line fuel pump right after the fuel/water filter so I was wondering if that maybe has a specific way it has to be primed? The engine always starts right up and has never had any issues besides the carburetor! Someone please help me get this thing fired up! Thank you very much.

Re: crusader question

It does take some cranking to get the fuel to fill the carb after rebuild. To save the starter, I just prime the engine with some gas squirted into the carb with my trusty squirt bottle.

May take a couple of trys to get the gas flowing again from the pump.

Re: crusader question

did you fill the water separator with gas before installing? that will speed the process up too.

Re: crusader question

If the fuel pump was weak to start with,it won't pump now as it can't anymore....
