try to simplify it....
do you know the block size? a 305 or 350? do you know if it is a chevy block or a GM block?
Try posting a few pictures, that may get you a better answer.

Re: Crusader/Caddilac Headgasket

Jason,

It's probably a Genuine CADILLAC Engine not a Chevrolet in a Cadillac costume. That didn't start until later. Had a friend of my stepfather who had a 300hp Cadillac in a Century in that period of time. Pulled 7 skiers at a time and still seemed ready for more! :D:D

May not find a readily available MARINE head gasket for it. May not even find a readily available automotive gasket for it. Long time ago ;)

I'd start at NAPA online. May need cylinder bore to get you the displacement of it and go from there.

Good luck.

Wow, dual quads, Carter WCFB's at that. That engine could be almost any displacement, ranging from 390 on up to 472. You may have to get a casting number off of the block to find out what engine it is. A head gasket should be easy to find, getting a "marine" gasket may be harder.

My friend (who owns the boat) and I am just about to give up trying to locate/find headgaskets for this engine

We are prepared to pay a good price for the right headgaskets - can anyone help us saving this old engine.

Re: Crusader/Caddilac Headgasket

you may try contacting crusader directly or look at some of the older Chris-Craft sites.
several marinizers used the cadillac engines of that time period.
also do some research on avalible engine sizes from cadillac in the 63-66 year ranges.
I am quite sure that in that time period not much was actully marine.
but some of the sites dedicated to older hulls such as Criscraft,Cruisers INC.,Gray Marine and a few others will turn up something.
many folks are getting into the restoration of these old rigs. some are stunningly well redone.
I know the Mariners Museum in Newport news Virginia has a staff of restorers for their ChrisCraft Exhibit and they may have a source.
