Morning folks.
1985 crusader inboards 5.7 845 hrs. Always maintained. Engines run excellent except the port engine will just stall out randomly when IN GEAR and idleing. Yesterday we were waiting for a slip for over 25 min and I was keeping the boat in position, shfting in and out of gears. No stall, then while backing in the slip it stalled. Did twice again back at dock. I did here a slight popping from the carb just before it stalled.
So it seems the longer I leave it in a gear at idle the better the chance of stalling.
The engine will start right back up so I am confused.
I have read of a cut off switch. When in gear at idle the coils voltage gets cut to 50%. Would that be true on this boat. It is a Tiara 1985, 3100 open???
Thanks in advance
Jim
