I noticed one side of the engine was reaching about 200 degrees. Replaced manifold with osco brand. Put it back together and all it did was spiutter and backfire. When removing manifold it runs perfect. This is with the riser and elbow detached. I'm at a loss. I've paid mechanics so far $1000 and they did not detect the problem was the manifold. I figured that out as that's all I touched. I took the manafold off and ran water through each port and it seemed ok. What else could it be? I'm dumbfounded. I already replaced the points, cap, condenser, wires, coil, carb and batteries after the problem began. I even pulled the balancer to make sure I did not have a sliped timing gear. Compression was at 120 - 110 at each cylinder and all the valves and rods are moving. HELP.. Before I lose all my hair. Thanks

Forgot to mention I ran water through port holes off the engine just incase you thought I was crazy enough to do that while it was attached. The cylinders are dry. & the plugs have been replaced 2 times.
