I'm looking at an '08 "new" Lowe SS204 20' with a 60 HP Merc 4 stroke. One of my concerns with this small of a motor is being able to cruise around the 30 X 15 mile lake here...will I be able to maintain 25 mph on smooth waters? 20?

Anyone have any opinions on this Lowe model? Looks nice and dealer is closing them out for $17K.

Thanks in advance,

Rick

Lowe makes a nice toon. You will most likely top out at around 20 MPH and the best "cruise" speed will be more like 15. Does that price include a trailer?

Insist on a 60 "BigFoot" or you risk ventilation problems like another poster on this forum. A 1.83:1 gearset and 10-1/2 inch prop do not belong on a pontoon.

That sounds like a very good price and Lowe is a good boat. We had one a few years ago with a 50 on it and now we have a 21 Sweetwater with a 60 Yamaha and top speed with GPS is 21 mph.
I would definately upgrade to a 90 hp motor or you won't be happy.

It does come with a double axle trailer. I've been thinking about upgrading to a 90 hp...flathead lake is big...looks like a nice outfit...oh, and the 60 hp merc is a bigfoot..........

Finally had a chance to get a GPS speed on my pontoon. 20' with a 60 hp Bigfoot was 19.8 with just me and 14.8 with 4 adults and a child. I have a 14x11 prop. Just for comparison.
