okay i have the above mentioned boat, very nice condition, had it for 5 years now 156 hours, years is 2000, has 5.0 mercruiser, alpha 1 outdrive. Pulled out of storage today dewinterized. Put in lake for about 10 minutes. Pulled out of water and noticed quite a bit of cold lake water in bilge. Took it home hooked up to hose and ran engine. no water leaks, or anything coming from engine or exhaust. Ran it for awhile on hose. TOOK back to boat ramp back it down onto water, engine not running, out drive submerged, noticed water dripping down from behind engine y- pipe area. quite a steady stream,,, could not quite isolated where its from... THOUGHTS please...is it possible for water presser to be pushing back thru exhaust and leaking at one of the joints.

Need to find where its dripping from. The things above it are the drive bellows, shift boot, speedometer tube, upper pivot pin or could also be the Y pipe or transom seal. The y pipe is known to burn thru is the exhaust flappers have come apart

Pull the drive to see if water is in the bellows.

If no water in the bellows, take a camera and take some pics as water is coming in to see if it can capture where its coming from

It could be a hole in the Y-pipe. Could also be from the u-joint bellows leaking. I would inspect the u-joint bellows when it is on the trailer. If you can't find it you will just have to find a way to look while on the water. I have an endoscope for stuff like that.

with the boat being a 2000, it should have had the bellows replaced 3 times already. since you owned it for 5 years, you should have had the bellows replaced when you bought it and this year as that is an every 3-5 year maintenance item.

if your u-joints are rusty, you may need a new input shaft seal and a new gimble bearing as well.

My boat is also a Crownline 202. Yours is new enough that the rear seat folds forward. The pivot is at the bottom. That will give you better access. They are not that tight to work on. I have climbed all over in mine. You should be able to see where the water is coming from. You can unsnap the covers on the wood pieces that divide the engine from the side compartments too.

These are some possibilities, but as stated, you are really going to have to look and see where the water is coming from.

1) Bellows are leaking
2) Y-pipe leaking, . . . but you would probably have some water and exhaust in the engine bay while running on the muffs.
3) Transom seal is leaking
4) Transom is rotting

Post some updates when you can.
