I run a 1984 Johnson 140 crossflow on a lightweight 15ft ski boat. What advantages does the loopcharged motor have over the crossflow?

Welcome to iboats, Magnum. :)

More torque, less fuel usage, thinner bonnet.

That's about it, unless you can be specific about what looper you mean.

Would boat top speed be different crossflow vs looper if equally propped and everything else kept equal?

There never were a 140 crossflow, prop rated horsepower. The old 140 was cranckshaft rated and is more like a 115. At wot, it should be horsepower to horsepower, but up thru the rpm range, the looper will have more torque and you will feel it like a bigger motor, what it actually is too, as the loopers have larger displacement combined with more effecient combustion too.

Thanks,

How do the weights of the 2 motors compare. I have heard that the crossflow was 30-40lbs lighter
