I have an 1982 115hp johnson that is salty. It has overheating issues and the heads have a lot of salt buildup and on one head 2 bolts that secure the water jacket snapped off. I have heads from a 1986 90hp Evinrude that are clean and used only in fresh water (plus that dont have sheared bolts!).

can i used the 90hp heads on the 115? They appear to be the same heads but I am in no way an expert. thanks!

There's a circular area near the top by a coil mount with the part number embossed. This pic shows part of it at the top left corner.

This one just above the top right head bolt.
