knot2much,<br />Sorry, but I dont have experience with that year Crestliner, but I do have a '00 16.5 Crestliner that I regularly "pound to death" out in the bay. All I can say is that it is a VERY durable boat that can take a lot of punishment.<br />As to the engine, As long as the compression is good in each cylinder and no one cylinder varies more than 10 lbs from the others, and the lube in the lower unit is not milky you should be fine. There are a lot more things you should check before buying a used engine and if you search these forums, you'll find tons of info on the subject.<br />As to that exact engine, you might want to drop a line on the Engine forum. There are a ton of Merc "Wrenches" that could probably give you advise. <br /><br />Nav
