WHERE'S THE BEEF????

I went out yesterday and cought a lot of crappie, but not one of them was over 11"s. How does anyone get any meat off an 8" fish??(that's the minimum size here in N.C.)

If there is anyone near Lexington, N.C. that knows where the big crappie are.....share the wealth!

Re: crappie the size of minnows

k5 : i don't know what size body of water you are fishing, but i'll give ya a quick run down on my experiences with small crappie.
fish generally school according to size. if you are on a large lake , move! with the exception of spawning season, most large crappies will be found in deeper water, unless they move shallow to feed. small ponds that have a predominate number of crappies usually do not have enough food source to support large growth, they generally are stunted.
crappie lakes also go through cycles. you can find that you will have a season or two of smaller fish, that will improve over time. however, most fishermen spread the word that a lake is producing larger fish, so pressure tends to increase until the majority are harvested.
