hi. can anyone tell me how to catch some crappie at turkey creek resivoir ive tried jigs minnows worms just no luck thanks for your help t.c

Try explosives. Just kidding. <br />Don't lmow that piece of water but....... <br />I live about 1 1\2 hours north of there. I have been getting them (in Lake Weir and the Ocklawaha River), with minnows and jigging with small spoons, in the weeds and grass along the shoreline. Got some good size bass also. 10 lb. 8oz (sow with roe) and a bunch of small keepers, last Wednsday. I let the sow go.<br />There spawning and ya got to work for them.<br />Good Luck<br />Mike <br />

The weather right now seems to have them screwed up. We have not even been getting them in the fin and feather pits..<br />What time of day and how have you been fishing for them? Try first light moving slow around the cat tails. Kind of like fliping for bass

Wait, I know why he is not getting any there are no "crappie" in Fl only "specks(sp?)"

Yup no crappie only specks. Messed me up for the first 6 years I lived here. Didn't know what a speck was, but I caught a s**t load of crappie. Just found out this year it is basically the same fish but smaller than what I was used to up north. Was gettin them 2 lbs.+ on a regular basis in a reservoir I used to fish in Connecticut.<br />But only in the northern spring (April) and this is March and I will be fishing for em tomorrow, hopefully in shorts not thru the ice.<br /> <br />Mike

thanks guys for all the help . ive tried morning noon night mouth open mouth shut .its just not meant for me to catch specks i guess ok ill keep trying
