crankshaft pulley?

So I got my last engine parts today, and fired it up and it runs great except it kicked the belt off. So after a close look I relized that my crankshaft pulley is bent. I started looking in the manual and it looks like it is called a torsional damper, the closest thing I could find in any online parts catalog is a balancer. Are these all the same part? Does anyone have an extra they are willing to sell? wishful thinking. Where is the best place to buy engine parts? Would there be an automotive counter part?
Thanks,
Jason

What engine (year, make, model, ya know all the good info) do you have.

Re: crankshaft pulley?

ok so today is a little warmer so I took a look to determine wether it was the balancer or the pulley. In the automotive world they bolt the pulleys on. Yet another thing I am learning in the marine world. The Pulley is only held on by pressing it on over a rubber ring? So it just sliped off, I pressed it back on. Problem solved. It purrs like a kitten now.

X's 2.....

I'd go ahead and replace it.
If you can slide it off and on with your hand the rubber dampner is shot! The outer ring will come flying off when you least expect it. Best case, it goes through the bottom of the boat... Worst case goes side or up, goes through the engine cover and it hits someone.
