On my 1985 50hp. Mercury 4cyl. overhaul I have a .005 shim on both upper and lower end caps and .009 crankshaft
endplay. Should I replace the .005 shim on the lower end cap with a .002 or a.003 shim, to have less crank endplay, or would that be to much difference between the upper and lower end caps? I have different size shims for
the lower end cap, I would have to make shims for the upper end cap, but that isn`t a problem.
JUST LIKE TO GET OTHER OPINIONS ABOUT THIS .......................THANKS A LOT............HAS

Re: Crankshaft end play

It should be between .008-.012 and all the inlines I build I try to get them around .010, I would let it ride ;)
