Cranks but doesn't turn over

Hey I have a '91 electric or pull start 25hp mercury. While driving on a plain a week ago it started to die on me so I had to put it in high idle to get back. This week I go out and it cranks but won't turnover. I've switched the battery and that isn't it. Thanks for any help.

Cranking and turning over are the same thing, starting is the next step.

Need more info to determine a cause, it could be as simple as the fuel line not connected correctly, or the motor is totally destroyed.

Make sure you have good clean fuel, you may need to drain the carbs to ensure there's no water in them.

Check for spark, pull a plug out and ground it against the block and turn the key, there should be a nice bright spark.
