Could anyone confirm should Loctite 7649 primer be used along with Loctite 518 flange sealant when joining crankcase halves, or should 518 be used on its own? Motor is 90hp 1990.
As long as the crankcase halves have been carefully cleaned of the old sealant, then wiped clean with either Lacquer Thinner or Acetone, one can safely use just the LocTite 518 sealant (GelSeal).
