on the crankcase head will that bearing seal not being seated all the way cause my baseplate to stick because of escaping exaust fumes? i tapped it down with a large socket and got it to seat about 1/8 inch i hope that this stops my binding problem!

Don't know about that, but was the baseplate rubbing on the seal???

Re: crankcase bearing seal

no not on the seal but it is rubbing on the bearing housing (hockey puck looking part) but its only at opperating temp witch makes me that that exaust fumes are the culprit. Also the old nylon ring look pritty brown compared to the new on, dont know if that is heat damage or what
