I just bought a fiberglass crankbait rod. I've got fluorocarbon on the reel I'm going to put on it. Should I switch to mono so theres a little stretch in the line?

Re: Crankbait Rod

there are pros and cons of fluoro. on cranking rod. # 1 pros being that it sink so you can get the bait run deeper, it abrasion resistance. You don't have to worry much about line stretch since the fiberglass will absorb the shock. The #1 cons being that it expensive to replace often like you should, you don't needs fluoro on a fast moving bait, since there are no stretch, you can't snap the line to free your bait when it hang up. To me fluoro on cranking rod is a waste of money. There may be other thought out there.

i like the fluro line for the same reason GF said it really all depeands on your rod action too if you got a fast action and clear water the fluro will be good.the rod will absorb all the shock.i got a tendency for heavy stiff rods so i got to be veru carefully when throwing crankbaits, but like gf said for traps and really fast moving mono is fine i even use power pro on my traps rod.
