I posted before about getting all new powerhead gaskets for my 96 225 ocean runner.Off work today started reading the manual to prepare myself and now I'm not sure I want to take out the crank. That really looks tricky keeping everything in line.If you take the rods apart should new studs be put back in.The main reason I got the whole kit is I had intake gasket issues last year, they can all be done easilly.Maybe save a few more bucks and get berings ,rings and pistons for next season

Re: crank seals

Some say to replace the rod bolts when they are taken out.-----I do not believe there is anything tricky on this job, There are things to learn about like lining up the rod caps when torquing them down.----What was the motor doing / not doing when you had gasket issues ?

Re: crank seals

I bought the motor used last spring and the previous guy redid one cyl because of a broken ring. The cyl was not scared but the piston was chipped so he replaced piston wristpin and rings BUT reused the damaged head gasket and all the gaskets on the intake side then she was getting air.I installed new head gaskets and made the one badly damaged gasket. This bugged me so now I have all new to do the job right
