Crank rod bearings

I have the rod bearings marked for each cyl.Does it matter where the split on the bearings are positioned? I set them 45 deg away from the rod cap split. 1996 90 deg 115 hp. Thanks.

Say what? You mean the split on the needles retainer cages? Makes no difference, they won't stay there anyway. However, look to see if there is an indexing mark such as a beveled corner to tell which ends of the cages go together. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't
