I'm trying to find out how to test the crank position sensor on a 98 Johnson 175 fast strike ficht. I've never messed with one like this. It's a oddball thanks

Hi everyone. I just signed up on this forum. I've got a lot of useful info off this forum in the past few years. There's some very good mechanics here. I'm working on a 98 Johnson fast strike ficht for a friend and it has lost all fire and fuel or sign of life. I'm starting small on the trouble shooting. I was told the crank position sensor would cause this problem. Don't really know much about this motor. I was wanting to do an ohms check but can't find anyone who knows how or how many ohms it should have. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone

The air gap between the CPS and the flywheel is .045" to .055". The resistance of the CPS is 800-1000 ohms.

Thanks for the info. I guess it's good at 886 ohms then. I'll have to check something else down the line. Does anyone know if this motor has a kill relay switch or stop solenoid?
